This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules that apply to everyone who uses the Folktale platform. It exists to protect the communities whose stories are shared with us, our customers, and the integrity of the platform itself.
1. Permitted use
Folktale is provided for lawful purposes related to monitoring, evaluation, research, learning, communications, and impact reporting. Use of the platform must be consistent with the rights, dignity, and consent of the individuals whose data is processed.
2. Prohibited content
- Content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes intellectual property rights.
- Content that incites violence, hatred, or discrimination.
- Sexual content involving minors, or any content that exploits or endangers children.
- Personal data collected without a lawful basis or appropriate consent.
- Malware, phishing, or anything designed to compromise systems or users.
3. Prohibited activities
- Attempting to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorised to use.
- Reverse engineering, scraping, or circumventing security controls.
- Using Folktale to send unsolicited bulk communications (spam).
- Re-identifying anonymised data, or merging datasets to undermine participant privacy.
- Using AI outputs in ways that mislead, manipulate, or harm participants.
4. Consent and ethics
Customers are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate, informed consent from participants before uploading stories, recordings, transcripts, or identifiable data. Customers must honour withdrawal requests promptly.
5. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations, suspend access, remove content, and terminate accounts. Serious violations may be reported to relevant authorities.
